Addis Ababa, October 31, 2025 (HornCurrent) —
The Deputy Commissioner General of the Ethiopian Federal Police and Head of the Crime Prevention Directorate, General Melaku Fenta, has reaffirmed the institution’s unwavering commitment to strengthening unity and upholding the rule of law across the country.
Speaking during a visit to the Special Anti-Terror Commando Training Program, General Melaku emphasized that the Federal Police remain dedicated to serving the nation with integrity, discipline, and sacrifice — continuing the legacy of those who defended Ethiopia’s peace and stability in the past.
“We are strengthening our unity to sustain the supremacy of law. Just as we made history yesterday, we continue to make history today through our service and sacrifice,” General Melaku said.
The Deputy Commissioner commended the ongoing intensive training of the Special Anti-Terror Commandos, noting that the program equips trainees with the physical, technical, and tactical capabilities necessary to respond effectively to any national security challenge — regardless of terrain or weather conditions.
He urged the trainees to complete the program with excellence, stressing that their training is designed to prepare them for high-level national missions that demand professionalism, courage, and loyalty.
General Melaku also underscored that the Ethiopian Federal Police remains an independent, impartial, and professional force, free from religious, ethnic, or political bias. He said the institution’s mission is to protect the sovereignty of the nation, safeguard the dignity of its people, and defend the constitution.
He reminded the officers that serving in the Federal Police means being ready to pay any price — through knowledge, sweat, and even life itself — to uphold national unity and public peace.
The Federal Police expressed deep appreciation to the leadership and members of the Special Anti-Terror Command Unit for their professionalism and performance in previous national operations, according to a statement shared with HornCurrent.
