Prosperity Party Deputy President Adam Farah Says Ethiopia Is Building a Healthy Political Culture

Bahir Dar, Ethiopia — HornCurrent Analysis

Prosperity Party Deputy President and Head of the Main Secretariat, Adam Farah, said Ethiopia is making progress toward building a balanced, healthy, and dialogue-based political culture.

Speaking at a joint consultative forum held in Bahir Dar between the Amhara Regional Government and various political parties, Adam Farah stated that Ethiopia’s political space is now being guided by constructive debate and engagement rather than confrontation.

He emphasized that a strong constitutional system, along with institutions such as the National Election Board of Ethiopia, has created a more enabling environment for democratic political participation. Farah added that each political party now has the opportunity to freely express its ideas to the public.

The forum, which brought together senior Prosperity Party officials including Amhara Regional Chief Administrator Arega Kebede, highlighted the need for political parties to respect the rule of law, safeguard national interests, and jointly promote peace and stability in the region.

Addressing the growing threat of extremist groups operating in the Amhara region, Farah urged all political actors to work together to halt violence and contribute to the development of a mature political order.

Arega Kebede, the Amhara regional president, also said that since Ethiopia’s national reform process began, conditions have improved for political parties to operate peacefully and legally. However, he warned that some armed extremist groups continue to harm civilians under the guise of political struggle.

The forum concluded with a collective call for dialogue, cooperation, and the strengthening of Ethiopia’s democratic system through peaceful political engagement.
