Ethiopia Reaffirms Africa’s Climate Leadership at Pre-COP30 Ministerial in Brasília

Brasília, Brazil – [HornCurrent News] — Ethiopia has reaffirmed Africa’s proactive role in global climate solutions during the Pre-COP30 Ministerial Meeting held in Brasília.

Representing Ethiopia, Ambassador Leul Tadesse underscored the importance of the Addis Ababa Declaration, the key outcome of the 2nd Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), as a critical contribution to the upcoming COP30 negotiations.

In his remarks, Ambassador Leul highlighted Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative, through which the country has successfully planted more than 40 billion trees, positioning it as a model for sustainable environmental action across Africa and beyond.

He further emphasized the need for climate finance, technology transfer, and capacity building to translate commitments into real, lasting impact for developing nations most affected by climate change.

The Pre-COP30 Ministerial gathering in Brasília serves as a preparatory forum for world leaders, diplomats, and climate policymakers ahead of COP30, scheduled to take place in Belém, Brazil, in 2025.

Ethiopia’s engagement reflects its ongoing commitment to advancing collective African climate priorities and ensuring the continent’s voice remains central in shaping the global green transition.
