Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed has emphasized that achieving complete national prosperity requires modernizing Ethiopia’s rural lifestyle and living standards.
During his visit to various parts of Central Ethiopia Region, the Prime Minister inaugurated newly constructed model rural villages built through community volunteerism and government collaboration.
Dr. Abiy stated that Ethiopia’s vision of prosperity will remain incomplete “unless it touches every citizen, family, and village.” He underscored that the progress seen in urban modernization must now extend to the countryside, calling on volunteers, investors, public institutions, and private companies to take part in building modern rural settlements.
“We once dreamed of creating a better countryside that follows improved patterns of living,”
Dr. Abiy said. “Now, this vision is being realized across the five zones of Central Ethiopia.”
The model villages showcased include modern livestock and agricultural facilities, biogas and solar energy technologies, improved sanitation systems, and essential social services, all designed to support sustainable livelihoods and rural transformation.
The Prime Minister stressed that building modern rural communities is key to bridging the economic and social gap between rural and urban Ethiopia. By promoting productive rural economies and modern living standards, he said, Ethiopia can achieve inclusive and lasting prosperity.
Dr. Abiy concluded by reaffirming that the construction of modern villages serving farmers and rural communities will continue with greater intensity in the coming years.
