Ethiopia and Pakistan to Strengthen Cooperation on Skill Development

Islamabad, Pakistan –This afternoon, Ethiopia’s representative held a fruitful meeting with His Excellency Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, at his office in Islamabad.

The discussion focused on advancing bilateral cooperation in skill development, a sector both nations view as essential for economic growth and shared prosperity.

During the meeting, the Ethiopian side highlighted the country’s ongoing homegrown economic reforms and investments in modern skills such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, and coding, aimed at boosting youth productivity and competitiveness.

The two sides expressed a shared commitment to launch joint initiatives to upskill young people in both countries, further strengthening the already robust Ethio–Pakistan relations.

In addition, the Ethiopian delegate briefed Minister Hussain on the “Back to Origins” initiative, a government-led program encouraging second-generation Ethiopian diaspora to return and contribute to national development and prosperity.

“Your Excellency, your continued support and contribution to Ethio–Pakistan relations is remarkable and deeply appreciated in Ethiopia,” he remarked, extending gratitude for the warm hospitality and productive discussions.

This engagement marks another step forward in enhancing cooperation between Ethiopia and Pakistan in education, innovation, and human capital development — vital pillars for sustainable growth in both nations.
