PM Abiy Ahmed Arrives in Jigjiga, Expected to Launch Major Projects in Godey

Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed arrived today in Jigjiga, the capital of the Somali Regional State, for a working visit focused on development projects recently completed and inaugurated in the region.

According to officials, the projects being inspected were envisioned and planned under the Prime Minister’s leadership, marking a significant step in transforming infrastructure and economic opportunities in eastern Ethiopia.

During his visit, Dr. Abiy is expected to hold discussions with regional leaders, community representatives, and project stakeholders on the progress made and the next phase of development initiatives.

Later, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Godey, where he will lay the cornerstone for new landmark projects, including a fertilizer industry and a natural gas initiative, both seen as game changers for the Somali Region and the wider national economy.

The Somali Region has increasingly become a focal point for Ethiopia’s development agenda, with its vast natural resources and strategic location making it a hub for investment, energy, and agro-industrial transformation.

Observers note that the Prime Minister’s visit comes at a critical time, reinforcing his government’s commitment to equitable development and integration of all regional states into the national growth framework.
