Somalia Showcases Oil and Gas Potential to U.S. Investors

Somalia has made a compelling case for its vast oil and gas potential, signaling a new chapter in the country’s economic transformation. Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Abdirizak Omar Mohamed (Daha Shire), presented investment opportunities to U.S. energy stakeholders, underscoring Somalia’s readiness to attract global players into its promising energy sector.

With increasing momentum in recent years, Somalia’s energy sector is emerging as a focal point in Africa’s energy discussions. Minister Shire highlighted the country’s untapped reserves and strategic location, noting that Somalia is positioning itself to become a key player in the continent’s energy future.

“Our energy sector is poised to dominate Africa’s energy conversations. This is a development we take great pride in, and we welcome international partners to join us in unlocking this potential,” the Minister said during the pitch to U.S. investors.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment with transparent policies, improved security, and regional cooperation. Officials expressed confidence that foreign direct investment in oil and gas will not only generate revenue but also create jobs, strengthen infrastructure, and accelerate national development.

As global interest grows, Somalia aims to transform its natural resource wealth into long-term prosperity, sending a clear message: “Future, we’re ready for you.”
