Breaking News: Somali Region President Mustafe Omar Requests 3-Month Extension Before Stepping Down

Addis ababa — Internal sources close to Somali Region President Mustafe Omar have revealed to HornCurrent.com that the president has privately asked Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for an additional three months in office to “fix his mistakes” before handing over power.

The request reportedly came after Mustafe realized that the ruling Prosperity Party had decided to replace him. According to the sources, Mustafe told the Prime Minister he was ready to address all grievances, including those raised by Somali elders who recently submitted formal complaints in Addis Ababa. He allegedly assured the PM that he would personally visit the elders at their hotel to apologize.

However, insiders say Prime Minister Abiy remains committed to appointing a new leader for the Somali Region, and preparations are already underway to select a successor.

In a separate communication with individuals close to the elders, HornCurrent.com learned that they would reject any apology from Mustafe Omar. The elders stressed that their concerns go beyond personal disputes, stating they are acting to “save the region and its people” and maintain a firm position that Mustafe must step down and face accountability for his actions.
