In a significant show of appreciation and support, the Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Ugochi Daniels, held a special Townhall meeting with IOM Somalia staff during her recent visit to the country.
The event, highlighted on IOM Somalia’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, underscored the organization’s deep commitment to Somalia, which is home to one of IOM’s largest and most dynamic field operations globally. With over 900 dedicated staff, IOM Somalia continues to deliver life-saving interventions in health, displacement support, livelihoods, and migration management.
“I’m honoured to host a Townhall with our Somalia team, who represent the heart of IOM’s mission,” said Deputy Director General Daniels. “Thank you for recognizing their resilience, dedication, and compassion.”
Somalia, facing the complex challenges of conflict, climate change, and internal displacement, relies heavily on international partners like IOM for humanitarian and recovery efforts. The Deputy Director General’s visit is seen as a morale booster and a testament to the tireless efforts of the team on the ground.
IOM Somalia continues to work closely with local communities, government institutions, and international partners to strengthen recovery, reintegration, and migration governance systems in the Horn of Africa.
