JIGJIGA – A high-level federal government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh and Prosperity Party Vice President Adem Farah has arrived in Jigjiga today to assess the escalating political and governance crisis in the Somali Regional State.
The delegation, dispatched directly by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, follows the recent visit of over 50 respected Somali elders to Addis Ababa. These elders presented a formal complaint to the Prime Minister, citing deep public dissatisfaction with President Mustafe Omar’s leadership, including allegations of administrative failure, political repression, and increasing instability in the region.
According to internal sources speaking to HornCurrent.com, the federal delegation includes top-level officials such as the Federal Police Commissioner, the Director of National Intelligence, and senior members of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces. Their mission is to conduct a thorough evaluation of the situation on the ground and report their findings to the Prosperity Party Central Committee.
“The clock is ticking on Mustafe Omar’s leadership,” one senior federal source told HornCurrent.com on condition of anonymity. “The Prime Minister has decided to intervene after widespread complaints and growing evidence that the regional administration is no longer capable of fulfilling its mandate.”
The Central Committee of the Prosperity Party is expected to convene this coming Saturday to deliberate on the delegation’s findings and potentially make key decisions regarding the Somali Region’s political future.
