
Addis Ababa – Ethiopia has established a new military force capable of confronting any potential threats, whether by land or sea, announced Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, Chief of the Ethiopian Defense Forces.
Speaking before the Foreign Relations and Peace Standing Committee of the House of Peoples’ Representatives, where the Ministry of Defense presented its 10-month performance report for the 2017 Ethiopian fiscal year (2024/25), Field Marshal Birhanu stated that the national army is actively working to ensure sustainable peace and security in the Horn of Africa.
He emphasized that Ethiopia is also making serious efforts to secure access to a sea outlet through regional cooperation and mutual development with neighboring countries.
EBC reported that the newly formed military force is designed to deter subversive acts threatening Ethiopia’s sovereignty and to uphold the nation’s strategic interests both on land and at sea.
