Addis Ababa Mayor Calls for Strengthening Private Sector Efforts to Boost Housing Supply

Addis Ababa – Mayor Adanech Abebe has emphasized the need to reinforce private sector involvement in order to address the city’s growing housing demand.

During a visit today, the Mayor toured 1,000 housing units currently under construction by Fison Real Estate, highlighting the project as an example of the positive role private developers can play in expanding housing access.

Mayor Adanech urged real estate developers and professionals engaged in the sector to regularly communicate progress and preparation activities with sub-city administrations, especially ahead of the upcoming COP32 engagements. She noted that closer coordination will help accelerate construction, improve efficiency, and ensure more productive outcomes in the city’s development efforts.

“The contribution of our city’s real estate professionals is essential. Sharing your ongoing work and preparations at sub-city level will help us work more closely and make upcoming forums more impactful,” the Mayor stated.
