
HornCurrent reports with deep sorrow the passing of Sultan Dr. Korfa Garine Ahmed, a former member of the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE).
Sultan Dr. Korfa Garine Ahmed, who represented the Kelafo Constituency of the Somali Regional State, served as an MP for five consecutive terms from 1983 E.C. (EPRDF era) to 2013 E.C. During his tenure, he also served as a member of the Ethio–Italy Parliamentary Friendship Group, dutifully serving both his people and his country.
He was among the founding administrative leaders of the Somali Regional State and a widely respected Shebelle clan elder.
Academically, Sultan Dr. Korfa Garine Ahmed attained education up to the Doctoral level.
In addition to his political and community leadership roles, he established a charitable organization known as “GUARDIAN”, through which he assisted vulnerable community members for many years.
After battling an illness and receiving medical treatment, Sultan Dr. Korfa Garine Ahmed passed away in London, United Kingdom, at the age of 77, on November 25, 2025 (Hidar 25, 2018 E.C.).
He is survived by his wife and several children.
His funeral will take place today, Hidar 26, 2018 E.C., in London, in the presence of family members, relatives, and friends.
