Addis Ababa, November 2025 (HornCurrent) – The Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) have carried out coordinated military operations against armed groups identified as Shene and other insurgent elements in parts of North Wollo and West Shewa zones.
Colonel Aden Isaq, Commander of the North Eastern Command, announced that on October 25, 2018 E.C. (November 3, 2025 G.C.), ENDF units in the North Wollo Zone successfully neutralized a group of insurgents in a place called Tsabelet. The operation resulted in the capture of various weapons, including motorcycles and other military equipment.
Similarly, Lieutenant Colonel Miftah Abaraia, Commander of another ENDF division in Habru Woreda, reported that defense forces took decisive measures against insurgents who were disrupting peace, hindering local development, and intimidating civilians. Vehicles that were being used by the militants to exploit local communities were also seized.
In a related development, Major Melkamu Hailemariam, Regimental Commander of the Central Command, confirmed that ENDF troops in West Shewa Zone’s Cho Woreda have intensified ongoing operations targeting the Shene group, which had been conducting sporadic attacks in the area. Multiple weapons and materials were confiscated as part of the operation.
The ENDF reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and stability across all regions of Ethiopia and called on communities to continue cooperating with the national defense forces to ensure lasting security.
