Somalia 🇸🇴 says talks ongoing with Puntland, Jubaland to resolve electoral disputes

Mogadishu – Somalia’s federal government has confirmed that productive talks are underway with the regional states of Puntland and Jubaland to resolve lingering electoral disputes ahead of the country’s upcoming national and local elections.

In an interview with Saudi-based Al-Arabiya TV, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said dialogue remains open with the two administrations, noting that the federal government is prioritizing consensus on the electoral process.

On the situation in Jubaland, the president voiced cautious optimism that remaining disagreements will be addressed before polls take place.

“The channels of communication remain open, and we are continuing dialogue and engagement with the leadership of Jubaland and Puntland,” Mohamud said.

The development comes amid heightened political focus on ensuring an inclusive and credible electoral framework across Somalia.
