Ethiopia and Namibia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation in the areas of transport, economy, and tourism.
On Thursday afternoon, Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, H.E. Alamu Sime, received a high-level Namibian delegation led by Hon. Veikko Nekundi, Minister of Works and Transport of Namibia, at his office in Addis Ababa.
The two sides held discussions aimed at advancing the long-standing ties between the two countries, which date back to the 1960s. Particular focus was given to aviation cooperation, with Namibia expressing strong interest in reviving its national airline, expanding airport infrastructure, and strengthening flight connectivity with the support and partnership of Ethiopian Airlines.
Minister Alamu underlined Ethiopia’s readiness to collaborate based on the principle of mutual benefit, noting that a joint technical committee will be established to follow up and implement the agreements reached.
Beyond transport, both Ethiopia and Namibia agreed to enhance cooperation in agriculture, mining, and tourism sectors, identifying opportunities for joint projects and exchange of expertise.
The meeting reflects a shared vision to elevate Ethiopia–Namibia relations to a higher level of partnership, building on their historical friendship and mutual interests.
