More than 300 Fano fighters operating in Ethiopia’s Amhara region have voluntarily surrendered to the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF), according to information obtained by HornCurrent.com from military sources.
The individuals, previously engaged in armed resistance, responded positively to the government’s recent call for peace and reconciliation. The ENDF confirmed that the fighters laid down their arms and turned themselves in as part of an effort to de-escalate violence and restore order in the region.
The military praised the move, describing it as a constructive step toward sustainable peace and the protection of civilians from further conflict.
Authorities are expected to facilitate the reintegration of the former combatants through dialogue and national rehabilitation initiatives.
