Addis Ababa, July 31, 2025 – HornCurrent.com — Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed has appointed Ato Addisu Arega as Ethiopia’s new Minister of Agriculture, effective immediately, according to a statement released by the Office of the Prime Minister.
Before his new appointment, Ato Addisu Arega served as Coordinator of the Rural Cluster within the Office of the Deputy Chief Administrator of Oromia Regional State. He brings with him extensive experience in agricultural policy implementation and rural development.
The appointment comes as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership in key sectors to enhance food security, modernize agriculture, and promote sustainable development across the country.
Ato Addisu is expected to lead the Ministry of Agriculture at a time when Ethiopia is prioritizing agricultural transformation as a foundation for economic growth and resilience.
