Sudanese Army Accuses Libya’s Haftar of Coordinated Border Attack with RSF

hartoum, Sudan – The Sudanese Armed Forces have officially accused Libyan warlord Khalifa Haftar of launching a coordinated attack on Sudanese border posts in conjunction with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), marking a serious escalation in the region’s ongoing conflict.

This is the first time Sudan has directly blamed Libya’s eastern military commander for involvement in its civil war, which is now entering its third year. According to the army’s statement, the joint assault on the western border zone signifies an alarming expansion of foreign entanglement in the Sudanese conflict.

The RSF, a powerful paramilitary force once allied with the Sudanese army, has been locked in a brutal war with the military since April 2023. The conflict has devastated cities, displaced millions, and drawn in external actors — with weapons and support reportedly flowing in from regional and global powers.

International efforts to broker peace have so far failed to yield results, and this latest development further complicates an already dire humanitarian and security crisis.

The Sudanese government warned that the involvement of foreign powers, especially through direct military engagement, could turn the war into a broader regional conflict. It called on international bodies to condemn the violation of Sudan’s sovereignty and take urgent action to halt external interference.
