Trump Vows to Restore Confederate-Named Army Bases if Reelected

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has pledged to restore the original names of U.S. Army bases that were named after Confederate generals, reversing the changes mandated by Congress during the final days of his first term.

Speaking during a recent campaign event, Trump criticized the renaming effort, calling it an act of political correctness. “We’re going to name them back,” he declared, promising to undo what he described as a “disgraceful decision.”

The move is likely to reignite national debates around historical memory, race, and military tradition ahead of the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
